KENO HISTORY

Keno is one of the casino games more popular in both online casinos and land based ones. This game is nowadays classified as a lottery and is played by thousands of people every day.

The origins of this peculiar game date back more than 2.000 years to China; however it did not arrive to the occidental casinos until the nineteenth century.

It has been said that this game was invented by a Chinese general, named Cheung Leung, which needed to obtain funds to go to the war, and almost without realizing invented one of the more popular casino games in history.

The original version is very similar to the one played nowadays. In the first game versions, players could bet in different balls which were marked with different Chinese characters, and if they choose the correct ones they will be entitled to win a prize.

With the years, and especially after its arrival to occident, the keno suffered some changes, being the most important one the use of numbers instead of Chinese characters in the balls.
